We saw Nebraska bids today at $143. That price on a Tuesday, would imply they are ready to buy cattle steady at last week’s $144 or maybe even $145. Another positive thing to note here is wholesale beef posted a moderate gain.

Feeder cattle futures saw some profit taking and fresh hedge selling on Tuesday, with deferred contract seeing the most pressure. The drop in price in spite of weakness in corn futures coincides with some developing weakness in cash feeder prices.

The market ran buy stops shortly after the open and then continued to work its way up into the mid $94.00 area before settling down. The market will most likely try and push up to the upper momentum collar today at $94.62.
