“Last week, the Department of the Interior’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed sage-grouse as warranted for protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) but precluded by the need to first address higher priority species.

“The Public Lands Council (PLC) and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) are pleased that sage grouse will not immediately be listed under the ESA.

On Friday, Mar. 5, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that the United States and Russia had reached an agreement to reopen the Russian market to U.S. pork and pork products.

U.S. Meat Export Federation President-elect Keith Miller was in attendance at the 2010 Commodity Classic in Anaheim, Calif., when Sec. Vilsack made the announcement.
